FAQs about LaseMD Ultra™ treatment

LaseMD Ultra™ by Cynosure Lutronic may be in your future for the ultimate glow and more. So, you can put your history of acne outbreaks, skin discoloration, and sun damage behind you. Our team at Splendid Aesthetics in Kyle, Texas, is pleased to help empower, embrace, and enhance the natural you, starting with providing trusted insights into this versatile, minimal-risk/downtime twist on conventional resurfacing lasers.

What is LaseMD Ultra™?

Ultra™ is a resurfacing treatment that harnesses the power of laser/light energy to rebuild glowing, rejuvenated, and healthy skin. As a non-ablative (non-wounding) fractional laser, the Ultra™ system generates and delivers energy to targeted treatment sites, which is used to create microscopic perforations or channels in the skin, just underneath the surface. Creating controlled micro-perforations stimulates the body’s natural wound-healing response. As part of this response, collagen and elastin production is kick-started. When your body produces more of these proteins and fibers necessary for skin firmness and elasticity, you gradually notice improvements in the texture, tone, smoothness, radiance, and overall quality of the treated skin sites.

What areas can be safely and effectively treated?

Some non-surgical therapies available at our clinic are most appropriate for the body or the face. This is not the case with Ultra™. With this innovative laser therapy, we have supported aesthetic transformations for patients with damaged or aging skin on the face, neck, decolletage, hands, and even arms.

And what types of damage and signs of aging can be treated?

Ultra’s versatility doesn’t stop with the above treatment sites. It is indicated for use on all sorts of hyperpigmentation, otherwise known as dark skin discoloration. So, if you suffer from “age spots,” freckles, and/or melasma, Ultra™ may be right for you. It may also be appropriate to shrink big or visible pores, enhance a dull or lackluster complexion, clear acne-prone skin, and soften fine lines and wrinkles.

How can it treat so many different types of conditions?

Because it is a highly customizable platform! Think of Ultra™ as several types of treatments in one; the Ultra™ Glow protocol focuses on mild resurfacing and brightening, whereas Ultra™ Resurfacing and Ultra™ Resurfacing Plus are great for moderate resurfacing or creases and deeper resurfacing for stubborn pigment problems, respectively.

Do I have to take a lot of time off work for this treatment?

No. However, it should be stated that downtime depends on your needs and the type of Ultra™ treatment that is performed accordingly. For those undergoing the Glow option, downtime is minimal. For those treated with the Resurfacing option, there may be some temporary pinkness and mild swelling. This is followed by a sandpaper-like texture and small brown specks resembling coffee grounds for no more than seven days post-treatment. With the Resurfacing Plus technique, it is important to exercise some patients as stubborn pigmentation like melasma represents a chronic condition with no “quick fix.” Good skincare and proper sun protection products and measures are essential.
